How did last week go?
Well unfortunately for myself the past two game weeks have really not gone to plan. Two below average performances which has really pushed me much lower in the rankings. However that is to be expected to happen at points throughout the year. And with the likes of the cups and champions league starting back up the past few weeks it has meant that at times mangers have changed their usual squads up ever so slightly(Pep roulette killing us all as per)

This is the squad that I have been stuck looking at since Sunday. Two horrific turn ins in a row. Despite the fact Wood Henderson and Trent all had Brillant weekends the rest of the team blanked which was at big cost. This has encouraged me to take my wildcard this week. A week earlier than I had originally planned, but most defiently necessary at this time.
Team of the week

Oh this is really painful to look at. Really painful. Rogers after four blanks in a row finally pulled some points out of the bag as soon as I get him out of the team. On top of that Jackson too as soon as I decide he’s maybe not my best option. FPL can be frustrating at times very frustrating.

The Fixtures

gw6 fixtures
Yes my favourite time of the week, Where I get to sit down and look at all the upcoming fixtures and try and predict to what may or may not happen. All I know this week is I need a much better showing from my team for my short term happiness.
The Plan:
Let’s break down the plans and everything you need to know going into this weekends fixtures. Since I am wild carding I will be going through every decision on every player and why I have made it.
Keeper Choice;
In FPL we have a few keeper strategies that typically we always stay to and I was always in the range of not spending more than £4.5 on my keepers. However this season I have changed my position after years on this, but will still break down all the options.
Option 1: £4.5+£4
The cheap option this is where we try to spend as little as possible in order to have more to spend on the rest of our squad. If you are going for this your options are limited, but we at idlefpl believe that Flekken with Danny Ward are the best picks.

Flekken
With this tactic we obviously will very rarely have our £4 million keeper even play so this is certainly more risky.
Option 2; £5/£4.5 + £4.5
Here the the second option worth considering going for two keepers that will start week in and week out that near guarantee points every week. Here we have again went with Flekken as one option with our other option being Chelsea’s Sanchez.
Option 3; £5.5 + £4.5
This is the more expensive option but with how things have gone this year I would say this is the best option.
With Flekken once again being an option, we have selected Arsenals Raya for our keeper choice. He may be unfit for this weekends game at Leicester but it is certainly worth the risk with the crazy returns he has got so far.

Raya
He has already returned 33 points this season, averaging over 6 per match, something no other keeper can come close to, and with Arsenal having a really easy run of games coming up I would really just expect for this to continue.
Defenders:
Before I start about anyone else, there are two obvious options for defence being Gabriel who has scored two weeks in a row for arsenal and then Trent who got an assist last week and looks to bring back many more attacking returns over the coming months.
The rest of the defence is where it starts to get tricky, as I don’t think Man City players are the best options at this moment in time as Gvardiol is just not getting the attacking out put that was expected of him not so long ago.
Options that I would look at would be the likes of Colwill, Alex Moreno and Ajer. All haven’t been the best point hitters this season but I would certainly expect some improvement with them.
Midfielders:
This is probably the make our break of all our FPL teams this year. This this part of your squad being the core that should carry a large majority of your points week in and week out.
Some out there options that I have looked at to selected are Adama and Tyler Dibling.

Adama vs Dibling Per 90 played
These two both excite me a lot(much more than Rogers ever did) with 23 and 16 points being their individual pulls this season there is certainly signs of good things to come with them both.
Dibling in the two games he has started for Southampton has picked up 13 points, while scoring and winning a penalty. With the likes of Bournemouth, Leicester and Everton coming up in the next five game weeks I see Dibling getting some more returns, being the only bright light in what is a pretty dreadful Southampton team.
Adama has also been a brilliant option this season for his price averaging 4.6 points per game for just £5.1 million.
As seen below we can also see both players tend to get in really good attacking areas and I think over the next five weeks both could bring in very solid returns for their prices.

Adama and Dibling heat maps
Salah or no Salah
It sounds ridiculous but while talking about midfielders I do think it is time to talk about whether or not you can afford both Salah and Haaland in your team.
First of all I need to say Salah is insane and his numbers this season have also been insane picking up 49 points in five games, only behind haaland. But there is now a case to argue that there is maybe more value having one of either Salah or Haaland and then spreading that value more evenly around the rest of your team. As paying £12.8 and then £15.3 for them both is a huge chunk out of having any sort of the rest of a team.
Salah yes is worth it if you can find a way to get him into your team, but at this moment in time it feels better value for money to get in Saka(who is nearly £3 Million cheaper), into your squad.

Salah vs Saka performance
If we compare their returns so far(per start), its actually somewhat close, I mean salah is pushing an extra two points per game but this would allow tor the likes of Mbeumo to get into your squad instead of some cheap £4 million midfielder such as Winks who realistically will Never get your points.
Or even if you want to be fancy you could very well get Luiz Diaz, who has been the stand out midfielder this season
Forwards:
I can’t talk about forwards without talking about Haaland, The absolute Joke of a footballer who I will forever regret not having in my fantasy team for the first five game weeks. This man will score in near every game this season and I have no idea how it is even possible to not get below average every week without him in your team.
Outside Haaland There is a few very good options to pick still. My picks would be Jackson and wood.

Jackson and Wood comparisons
Who have both had flying starts to the season picking up 64 points between them.
Other options include Raul of Fulham who could be a good differential for cheap. Or else Watkins, Havertz or Solanke, who are all in to get in big pulls over the next few weeks.
Captain Picks:
Oh the so boring decision of the weekend. Haaland once again is our first choice pick for Captain if you have him. This is then followed by Saka and then Salah. So in short the usual three.
My Team:

Idlefpl gw6 team
So on my wildcard week this is the look of my team. I am expecting it to get around 69 Points this weekend according to the Fantasy FootballHub. However just as warning before the deadline there may be a potential switch between Colwill and Robertson depending on my last minute confidence in doubling up on two defences. And also depending on any Raya updates he may leave the squad but as the injury seems unserious at the moment I may just keep the plan to risk giving him a chance and hoping that he starts or if not is back for Game week Seven.
Thank you all for reading. I hope you all have very fruitful and high points scoring weekends.
