Gameweek two completed

Deadline: 31st August 11:00 BST

It’s fair to say that last week backfired on me (Thanks Ange) with Solanke only being announced to be missing Spurs fixture vs Everton on Friday after I had used my transfer.

This then resulted in me doing exactly what I advised against and panicking. So now for the next nine months I have no free hit to use.

How I did

gw2 score

Despite getting my expected points for the week (74) I am disappointed with my points pull from this weekend. As I have now seen all the Haaland triple captain players fire on past me. City deciding to simply give Ipswich a head start on Saturday has came in painfully and cost me nearly 10 points, along with Palace dropping off against West Ham.

Team of the week

gw2 Totw

Looking at this weeks team of the week there is definitely a few more players I would genuinely recommend having a good look at. These would be Raya, who outside arsenals game week 5 fixture against Man City might honestly be the best goalkeeper option on FPL this year. Id also recommend looking into the likes or Son and Palmer, as well as Jackson. And then very obviously then Haaland if you don’t have him already

The Plan:

Well its time for the plan and break down of what we have learnt and what we know going into game week 3:

Get Morgan Rogers ffs!

This guys good, the surprise package of the season that the majority of us had on our bench at the start of the season just expecting him to be another £5 million midfielder that will sit on the bench this season. But watching him this season he seems like a real good asset, despite only picking up four points in the first two game weeks, his performances have been excellent and have many people really excited. With Aston Villa have a very good run of fixtures between now and game week 7, where Rogers is expected to get 23 points in these five upcoming fixtures, he is someone you should at the very least have on your bench.

If you don’t have Rogers, make sure your cheap midfielder is either Smith-rowe who has a nice next four fixtures or else Bournemouth Semenyo, who has been one of the best players in the league this season picking up 13 points ,he is also expected to keep this up and get 14 points over the next three game weeks, despite some very difficult fixtures against Chelsea and Liverpool coming up.

Keep

Now I know there are always players who frustrate you in FPL, who get less points than expected and it is really really annoying, however these are the ones you need to keep if you have.

ISAK:

Yes, he has been really really frustrating with his 7 points and zero goals in the opening game weeks but he is still a good option with between now and game week seven(when I plan to wildcard), he is expected to get over 30 points. This weekend against Spurs may be a tough fixture but I expect the goals will start coming over the next few weeks.

WATKINS:

Another who needs more time is this man. I know for his high price he has been shocking this season but we must remember he was playing in the Euros over the summer and has had less of a pre-season to get up to pace, should we should keep trust in him. Especially with Aston Villas great run of fixtures over the next four weeks where I expect he will get back in the goals.

EZE:

This is still the man you need in your FPL team, despite not picking up points over the opening two weekends, Ezes numbers look amazing. He should have scored vs Brentford on the opening day with having his goal wrongly disallowed, and then was unfortunate again vs West Ham last weekend. After his two performances he should have been expected to have at least 10 points in the bag by now. Keep trust in him points will come.

Wissa vs Jackson Vs Joao Pedro:

Comparison time! As those who haven’t dealt with the Solanke injury yet(such as myself), I have decided to break down who is the best option as his replacement.

WISSA:

Pros:
  • Somewhat cheap option(£6.1)

  • Good Fixture vs Southampton(GW3)

  • Good start to season

Cons:
  • Plays City and Spurs away after international break

  • Not the best value for money option

Jackson:

Pros:
  • Good performance last week

  • Will 100% pick up points when he plays

  • Easy Fixtures over the next 5 game weeks

Cons:
  • Chelsea have too many forwards so not guaranteed playing time

  • Expensive Solanke replacement(£7.6)

Joao Pedro

Pros:
  • Two really good home fixtures after international fixtures

  • Picked up points so far

  • Cheap option(£5.5)

Cons:
  • Really bad fixture next week(Arsenal Away)

  • Not as dead on to score

Our Pick:

Out of these three we have selected Joao Pedro as the option for Solanke replacement. Although this weekend he may blank against Arsenal(Although it may not be the case), compared to Wissa and Jackson he seems much less risk to take on over the coming four game weeks or so. Price wise he saves £2 million into the bank which will open up better options in other positions over the coming game weeks. Wissa this week was a hard option to not select as his fixture against Southampton is very tempting but for the coming game weeks after the international break it felt too risky. The same somewhat applies to Jackson too, despite his very easy run of fixtures for the next two months its hard to justify him currently as Chelsea have too many forwards that could replace him and they still want to bring in more before the deadline shuts. If he does play though and your happy to take a gamble on his play time I would say he is an excellent option

Don’t get!!

There are three players loads of FPL players are going for this week but I really don’t think you should even consider these are Mazrauoi, who again got lucky and over performed last week. Savio who again got lucky with his assist last week, hasn’t had a single shot in two games and with the return of Foden expected at some point his game time will drop, especially with Pep roulette which we do not want to fall victim to this season. My final player I think you need to stay away from is Madueke, I know he scored a hat trick last weekend(and therefore is the most transferred player in this week), but he really isn’t worth it. With no Data indicating that he will do that again anytime soon and once again just the sheer amount of forwards Chelsea have I am unsure if he is even a guarantee to play every week

Captain Picks:

This week I have three captain options;

  • Haaland

  • Salah

  • Saka

All three have decent games coming up(Although salah has by far the hardest), I would back Haaland if you have him as captain with him expected to pull in at least 7 points this weekend against West Ham.

Surprisingly I would actually pick Saka as my second choice of captain who plays Brighton at home this weekend. He again is expected to bring In around 7 points and I would put him in as a safer option against Brighton compared to Salah.

Salah is my final choice as captain, he is expected to do slightly better than Saka points wise this weekend although I am unsure what to expect in Slots first game to Man united. He does have 2 wins from 4 against Ten Hag in Holland, with a weaker side so that would suggest he possibly will hold the edge on Sunday. My brain keeps telling me to go with Saka, but Salahs record of 14 goals and 4 assists against united in 15 games is still really hard to not consider, compared to Sakas 4 goal involvements against Brighton in 9 attempts.

How my team will shape up:

gw3 line up

This will be my final line up going into Game week three with Rogers getting a chance in midfield while I leave Joao Pedro on the bench for this week. I am expected to get around 65 points this weekend so fingers crossed.

Salah in the end does take captain the captains spot for me.

I wish everyone a good weekend.
